Radical Listening
Why are you here? What brought you to organising? Who or what shaped your values? What change do you want to see in the world? What spaces do you have in your organising for connection, listening and building trust?
In this video resource, migrant justice organisers Zoe, Rosanna, Loraine, Fatou share their wisdom and reflect on why listening as a practice is vital to us as social justice organisers. Part of a series.

About this resource: Radical Listening
This resource is a 4 minute film opportunity to reflect upon our relational listening practices and consider how we are forging meaningful organising relationships.
When we listen, we make a connection and we start to build trust and understand where there might be intersecting issues and ways to organise in solidarity.
We do not have to agree on everything, as long as our values are in alignment, that is often enough to grow our power and take action.
We expand our people power by offering others a chance to share their experiences, their values and their concerns. We open doors for each other.
1-2-1 meetings can be done anywhere: coffee mornings, listening circles, through door-knocking etc. We start with people around us – our friends, our members, the people we work with, study, or worship with.
The next stage is to reach out to people we never meet or talk to, people we meet at the school gates, in community centres, places of worship, trade union meetings, etc.
Each one bring one! This is how our movement grows – people power is unlimited!
About this film series
“Radical Listening” is part of a three part film series focused on the methods and tools of community organising.
We share the wisdom of experienced migrant justice organisers who are taking action to end hostile immigration policies.
The series was filmed at a two-day gathering in London 2023. The gathering brought together over 100 migrant justice organisers to come together, connect, reflect, learn and build power.
These films are designed as collective learning resources for people, groups, organisations and communities. We hope these resources help you and your group to reflect and discuss strategies together.
Join us in sharing the voices of #SolidarityKnowsNoBorders – a growing community building transformative futures based on dignity, justice and solidarity.
Watch, learn, share. We organise together until we win!
